Does anyone know when the actual age of the midlife crisis is? Because i feel like i'm currently going through it. I'm at the point where i'm working on discovering what it is in life that I look to achieve. What are the goals that I want to set out, both short and long term?
Honestly, I don't think there's an age. I feel there is a series of events that trigger this 'midlife crisis' thought process. When you end a chapter in your life and think of how to start the next, or what will keep the reader interested (or in this case how do you keep yourself entertained/interested in what you are doing).
You want to be creative but not to the point where you'll exhaust yourself and overlook the small things in life. It's a difficult task. As kids, we are taught that there is a certain map you have to follow. You go to elementary school, middle, high and then college. But everyone goes thru these steps differently. Some don't graduate high school, some don't graduate college, some take the route of travelling for a year. It varies. So don't sweat yourself when you are confused on your next steps. Just know, there is no map because the paper and pen is waiting on you to create it.

Investing in yourself
When you go to college, no one ever tells you that it's going to be hard to find a job. You're not told what kinds of jobs you CAN apply for, that you have experience for. All you know is you just spent thousands and thousands of dollars thinking you'll be guaranteed a job in the workforce.
The funniest part of it all is the entry level jobs for college grads require 1-2 years of corporate experience. Now explain to me how you can have experience if you were in college full time? To this day, still don't understand that one.
Eventually, you find a job where you can start to develop a name for yourself. (For some, getting this job after college takes longer than a year). The best advice I can give anyone in this position is to take on extra projects in whatever it is you want to do. Don't let that first job out of college be in a field you hate.
Why? Because people get comfortable. You are finally getting your full paychecks, treating yourself to whatever you want and living your first solo apartment. Why mess it up by chasing after your career? What if your dream career path pays less than you currently make?
Those thoughts swarm into your mind and you are thinking "I'm better off just staying where I am, as much as i don't like it here, I want to continue living my lifestyle" and BOOM! Years flash before your eyes and you are now at a company you never saw yourself at for 5+ years, still miserable.
Make your youth count. Go after those things that you want, the career, the car, the house. Everything else will fall into place.

Purpose.
Everyone is told that they are on this Earth to fulfill a purpose. I feel like every time i am close to graduating/reaching a new unfamiliar territory in life, i regress to this place where i feel lost.
I've been really pensive lately, wondering how to better the situation and find a way out of this routine that i'm so bored of. Never really been a person that likes falling into routines....
Feeling lost is a horrible feeling, you don't know what's next or what to expect. It's hard to lay out your goals when you are unsure of the future and what is to come.
I was told to find a new hobby to eliminate that feeling. How do i do that when i already have a pretty busy schedule? Plus, knowing that I am very ambitious and strive for better, a hobby isn't the answer to this feeling.
All i know is that everyday that passes right now feels like a day wasted when i have no idea what my goals are past this June's graduation.

My Favorite Team - Analyzed
Since i can remember, I've been a faithful Lakers fan. Anyone that meets me, knows me or is related to me, knows this to be true.
This year is probably the worst team in my lifetime. Yes, it hurts to even watch these games. See the guys feel like losing is just the norm and that the excuse is always "we played hard but the game got away" "we have a ton of injuries" etc.
My analysis starts here: Mike D'antoni.
He's a good person, but he should of never been hired over Phil. Why? Because the pieces for his type of game play aren't on the Lakers team. This year they semi-built a better team fit for his play but then once again, the team is plagued with injuries. It makes you wonder....why is only the Lakers suffering through a load of injuries in the last two seasons combined. I have a theory that this could be due to the style of play or that the practices aren't good for the players. Idk.
Now going a step further. Why isn't Jordan Hill getting mroe playing time? because he's the "energy guy". That's a load of crap. You play Robert Sacre more than Hill and he only summons 1 rebound in 25 minutes? More crap. I'll take Kaman over Sacre any day of the week, but people don't even remember he's on the team because he gets no PT. Anyways. so over it.
Next, The Management.
Why is it that management hasn't fired D'antoni? It's because there's nothing left to save for this season. Playoffs isn't even something that can possibly happen. So there's no point in firing him now. He can continue to be T'ankoni.
I guess this blog is to show my frustration of a season of moments.

The Big Shocker
Shock. Frustration. Anger. Sadness. The feeling of being Afraid.
These were the feelings that took over my body as i arrived to the airport on November 1st. I was already about 10 minutes late to the time i had initially wanted to arrive to the airport. There had been a ton of traffic on the way there, so i had been dropped off with my friend on Sepulveda & Century. As i proceeded to cross the street, a cop started yelling angrily to get back and not try to cross the street again. I was confused, but proceeded to going back to the street I came from. On my way there, i ran into a flight attendant and asked her if she knew what was going on. Calmly she said "someone got shot on terminal 3". My first thought was WTF. My second thought was, why is she this calm?
Next thing you know, there are floods of people with luggages crossing the street and congesting the area I was standing by. Everything happened so suddenly. Helicopters, Police, Ambulance & Security came rushing by with their guns and equipment. 10 minutes late to the scene were the news trucks, who as usual are late to report on big events.
The helicopter above us gets on a megaphone and says "THE AIRPORT IS NOW ON LOCKDOWN". I finally go to twitter and see that the LAX handle has indeed confirmed this lockdown and has also announced that all the streets & freeway exits that lead to lax have been shut down as well.
It was at this point that i really sat down and thanked god for the fact that i was late to the airport. Had i arrived at the time i wanted to and not hit traffic because of the car accident by the freeway entrance, i could have possibly been walking in at the same time the shooter was to terminal 3. Wowsers.
So i spent the next few hours reflecting, contacting loved ones and following the news. The Radisson graciously accommodated the thousands of stranded travelers in their hotel lobby in the meantime, hoping that the airport would open soon enough. Hours passed by, all we could see was the horrendous story of the gunman and how he took out the TSA agent and caused the second largest airport to shut down in an instant.
After switching my flight to later times, i came to find out that Virgin had officially cancelled every flight available that day and that LAX would not plan on opening terminal 3 at all for the remainder of the day.
So at this point, we were upset, frustrated and hungry, with food being miles away and cars not able to pick anyone up in the area. We started the long journey to the nearest burger king (which was hella far) and made the biggest line of my life for food that isn't even real.
I found me and my friend a ride, but traffic was just so ridiculous coming into the area that we had to continue walking further away from the airport just to get picked up. By the time i got home it was almost 5pm.....which means i spent over 8 hours at the airport just awaiting a flight that would never depart.
I really don't know what people think when they perform stupid acts like the one of the gunman at LAX. Because of him, over 800 flights were cancelled, 400+ flights were made to land in different airports and thousands were left stranded to drag bags for miles to be able to catch a taxi. The nightmare that was November 1st was finally over but that memory will last forever.

The Big Controversy
Currently, the whole Kanye/Kimmel feud has been the big topic of conversation.
I actually watched Kanye's interview in it's entirety and i must say, it was very interesting. I think a lot of people misinterpreted what he said because of the misconceptions already created about him in society. I do agree with a big point that he made. Why are people constantly bashing people chasing their dreams? Why do you wish the worst for people, which sometimes even includes your close friends?!?! If everyone in the world decided to ban together and make one another successful, we'd have such an amazing world. I understand this isn't possible, but why make fun of Kanye for being a dreamer and wanting to make the most out of his life?
I am a firm believer that people should chase after their dreams, no matter how crazy it may sound. Hey, you never know, one day you could win the lotto or meet the person that can make your dreams come true.
